"CREATIVITY IS THE FREEDOM TO EXPRESS ONE'S INNER FEELINGS ABOUT AN IDEA OR SITUATION THROUGH READING, WRITING, ACTING, DANCING, DRAWING, PAINTING, FILMING, INVENTING, DISCOVERING, ...POSSIBILITIES ARE LIMITLESS."

JANENE LINKS THE ARTS TO THE ACADEMICS AS SHE TEACHES IN THE ARTS AND ACADEMICS TO STUDENTS AT OLIVE PEIRCE MIDDLE SCHOOL, NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON AND CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL. HER STUDENTS INVENT AND CREATIVELY PROBLEM-SOLVE USING HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES.

DURING THE SUMMER JANENE WORKS FULLTIME AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ARTIST PAINTING RARE AND ENDANGERED ANIMALS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. ANGEL CHILDREN SPIRITS OF THE UNIVERSE IS THE THEME OF JANENE'S MOST RECENT SERIES OF PAINTINGS, A THEME CONCERNED WITH PRESERVING OUR DELICATE PLANET EARTH FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS OF CHILDREN.

JANENE HAS SERVED AS AN ARTS CURRICULUM WRITER FOR THE RAMONA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND ASSIGNED MENTOR TEACHER FELLOWSHIPS FOR THE 1994-95, 1995-96 AND 1997-98 SCHOOL TERMS. SHE WROTE AND DESIGNED THE ARTIST: A REFLECTION OF OUR ENVIRONMENT, A TEACHER'S WORKBOOK OF ART AND SCIENCE LESSONS TO USE AS A RESOURCE IN CREATING CLASSROOM LESSONS FOR STUDENTS. SUMMER TEACHING INCLUDES THE SAN DIEGO NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM AND THE SAN DIEGO WILD ANIMAL PARK.

JANENE WAS AWARDED AN ARTS GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL IN 1982, SERVING AS A RESIDENT ARTIST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO. IN 1983, SHE RECEIVED A GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO IN EDUCATION. IN 1995, JANENE RECEIVED AN HONORABLE MENTION AWARD FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME FOR WORK AS A WILDLIFE ARTIST. THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS IN ESCONDIDO AWARDED JANENE THE ARTS EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENT NOMINEE AWARD FOR 1997 SUPPORTING ARTISTS WORKING IN SCHOOLS.

INVOLVEMENT IN COMMUNITY SERVICE INCLUDES LA JOLLA PLAYHOUSE EDUCTION ADVISORY BOARD, PI LAMBDA THETA/INTERNATIONAL HONOR AND PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION IN EDUCATION AND RECOGNITION IN WHO'S WHO IN CALIFORNIA, WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN WOMEN AND WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD EXHIBITIONS INCLUDE SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF ART, SAN DIEGO CITY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, UC LIBRARY, CORONADO LIBRARY AND ART SCENE GALLERY.
