"As an artist, I hope my work speaks for me. When you look at it, I hope it evokes emotion on several Levels. Sometimes, it's for the fun of it but always real life. I do what I see and what appeals to me in the natural world."

"I was born in the country to farm people. I haven't traveled extensively, but I've seen a lot of the United States and what I've seen, I've liked. I much prefer the country, whether it's the mountains, desert, or hills and plains. Nature has such an allure for me, both the landscape and the animals. I find myself watching the body language, the mechanics of movement whether it's the eyes and ears, the twitch of the tail, or simply the way they walk.

"I have always painted and it was a bit later in life that I discovered clay and the wonderful creatures that can evolve from it. Sometimes I think I won't live long enough to create all the forms that live in my imagination, but I'm trying.

"Nothing thrills me more than to see people approach my work and reach out to touch it. Most of the time that is accompanied by a smile and that will always be the biggest compliment I will ever receive. I want people to feel the emotions reflected in my work, like the cubs hurrying to share in mom's "Catch of the Day," or the ranch horse striding out on his way home with his partner on board who has had a little too much Saturday Night.

"This serves as my artist's statement to the whole world and hopefully expresses my feelings as I work and watch the pieces come to life."
